OpenStudio 0.1.01 brings NAM Rack, DAW-inspired keyboard profiles, and the JUCE 9 upgrade, together with follow-up fixes for AI Tools setup, Windows audio conversion, and export workflows. These notes cover the main release in PR #10 and the hotfixes included in this download.

Highlights

  • NAM Rack guitar rig: build a chain with pedal effects, NAM amp models, cabinet processing, EQ, modulation, delay, and reverb. Browse the TONE3000 library, load local models and cabinet impulse responses, and save rack presets.
  • Familiar keyboard profiles: choose DAW-inspired shortcuts for Pro Tools, Cubase/Nuendo, REAPER, Audacity, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, and more. Profile-aware commands and shortcut customization let you adapt the editing workflow to your habits.
  • JUCE 9.0.1: updated the native application framework and reworked embedded-browser startup and detached-window handling, including the Windows WebView2 popup paths.

Fixes

  • AI Tools dependency conflicts: pinned a consistent set of Diffusers, Transformers, and Accelerate versions across platform runtimes and installer requirements. This addresses the dependency-resolution failures that blocked Linux and macOS runtime builds. NAM dependency downloads also use the official Eigen GitHub mirror to avoid the observed GitLab availability failures. Included through #11 and #12.
  • Windows FFmpeg packaging: replaced the previous bundled executable with a reproducible FFmpeg 8.0.1 runtime, verified dependency files, and matching licenses. The complete corresponding source archive is attached to this release. This supports packaged audio conversion and MP3/OGG export without a separate Windows FFmpeg installation. Included through #13 and #14.
  • Render and export handling: improved queued-job settings, output naming, and selected-clip filtering. Exports now report success and failures more clearly, with additional native and browser regression coverage for conversion and export workflows.
  • Window verification: strengthened startup and detached-window lifecycle checks so missing frontend readiness and failed window tests are easier to diagnose during release qualification.

Known Issues

  • Windows prerequisites: Visual C++ runtime installation can fail without elevation; run OpenStudio Setup with administrator privileges. The installer can also report a WebView2 repair failure when a newer runtime is already installed. That warning does not necessarily mean WebView2 is missing; this published installer does not contain the newer runtime-detection fix.
  • macOS: the DMG is unsigned, and first launch may require approval in System Settings > Privacy & Security. Repeated microphone/Documents prompts and a crash during Monitor FX insertion have been reported. The plugin involved in that crash is uncertain; these issues are not claimed fixed in this release.
  • NAM/TONE3000: connection recovery and library search/loading issues have been reported. Fixes currently being tested in development are not included in this download.
  • Optional AI Tools: the base app does not include the managed AI runtime or every model. First use requires additional downloads. The published managed macOS AI runtime supports Apple Silicon; AI Tools are unavailable on Intel Macs in this release.

Upgrade Notes

Review the complete main-release and hotfix changes, or the hotfix-only changes since v0.1.0.

  • Quit OpenStudio and back up important projects before updating. Install the package for your platform: Windows setup, macOS DMG, or Linux AppImage. Keep your recordings, projects, and user presets.
  • This page describes the existing v0.1.01 download. Editing its notes does not update the installers: later development changes to permissions, NAM connection/search, Monitor FX, dropdown dismissal, updates, and file compatibility are not part of this release.

Known Issues

  • macOS v1 ships as an unsigned DMG. Users may need to right-click OpenStudio.app and choose Open, then allow it in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
  • The optional AI Tools runtime for stem separation is not bundled in the base app. OpenStudio downloads its managed AI runtime on first use, so the first install can take time and depends on network availability.
  • AI Tools currently publish a managed macOS runtime for Apple Silicon only. Intel Macs can run the base app, but AI Tools remain unavailable there for now.

Upgrade Notes

  • Project files now save as .osproj while legacy .s13 sessions continue to load.

Release metadata endpoints
/releases/latest.jsonCurrent version, size, and per-platform artifact URLs
/download/{os}/latestStable redirect to the newest artifact for an OS (windows, macos, linux)
/appcast/macos-stable.xmlSparkle-style appcast consumed by shipped macOS builds
/appcast/windows-stable.xmlAppcast consumed by shipped Windows builds
/appcast/linux-stable.xmlAppcast for Linux builds, when the stable manifest includes Linux
/releases/ai-runtime/latest.jsonAI Tools runtime manifest the app reads for optional installs
A public contract

These endpoints and redirects are consumed by shipped app builds for update checks. Nothing in the redesign changes them.
